Virgil Hutchinson and Linda "Sparky" Mortimer: I've Started A Business, Now What?

Virgil Hutchinson from BD Trauma Scene Clean, Inc. and Linda “Sparky” Mortimer from Sparky Town talked about the joys and headaches of starting their own business.
Hutchinson started his business in 2005 to provide hazardous waste clean-up services. As a veteran police detective, he recognized that there were bio-hazards that people did not want to clean up and didn’t have the know-how to do it correctly. Besides bio-hazards, BD Trauma Scene Clean will take care environmental hazardous waste.
Mortimer opened Sparky Town in early 2008. Located at the corner of Burnet and Catherine in the Hawley-Green area of Syracuse, Sparky Town offers food and entertainment. The food includes vegan options.
Both Mortimer and Hutchinson had wanted to start a business for a while. Both prepared for it, but both found that starting their business was just a “start” and that more needed to be done to assure success.

The best question from the audience was whether either Mortimer or Hutchinson had plans for going international. The message from the audience member was to dream big and from their smiles, both are.
